  • As of FY 2023, The NYT Company’s advertising revenues showed an annual decrease of 6.7% to $477.3 million.
  • This was mainly due to lower print and digital advertising revenues, which includes lower revenues generated from podcasts.
  • As of 2024, The New York Times hosts 13 different podcasts on its website covering topics such as politics, culture and lifestyle. 
  • The most popular of these, The Daily, attracts around 3 million daily listeners on average.
  • More than 2,100 episodes have been published since its launch in 2017.
  • Following the success of The Daily, a weekly documentary series was launched under the same name in 2019, which later led to longer docuseries under the title The New York Times Presents.
  • In 2020, Serial Productions (the creators of Serial podcast) was purchased by The New York Times Company for a sum of $25 million. 
  • Episodes from Serial’s first and second seasons had been downloaded a record 340 million times by the end of 2018.
  • In addition to the featured podcasts hosted on The New York Times website, several previous NYT and Serial Productions podcasts are available to listen to on other platforms, such as Spotify and Apple.
