8 letter words can seem like the peak in Scrabble or Words With Friends. Bagging an 8-letter word can let you clear your rack completely. It gives a sense of achievement to look at all the letters on your rack and make a word with ALL of them plus one from the board.
The good news is that it’s easier than you think to score an 8-letter word in Scrabble. In total, there are 42,182 of them in the dictionary. That means it shouldn’t be too difficult to get one, but the question is where to start. Well, sometimes it is best to start from the end.
Forming an ending first can be a good way to figure out a playable word. For example, avoid the letter J. There are no 8-letter words that end with J in our English language dictionaries.
A better place to start would be with the letter S. There are 14,798 8-letter words that end with the letter S. However, many of these can simply be plurals (FEATURES, ARTICLES, PROBLEMS).
There are 4,679 8-letter words that end with E and 4,607 8-letter words that end with the letter D. These may be a better place to start with words like: COMPLETE, PURCHASE, RESOURCE, STANDARD, INCLUDED or INVOLVED.
